Meet Nicky Gluch

2018/19 Zemel Junior Conducting Fellow

Nicky Gluch is looking forward to working with the Zemel Choir as Junior Conducting Fellow after having made a big impression with us at the 2017 Lewandowsky Festival in Berlin. Nicky made her conducting debut with the Eastern Sydney Chamber Orchestra and has since gone on to conduct choral-orchestral projects of her own. Having undertaken a Masters degree, Nicky’s interests include exploring aspects of conducting in the 21st Century and this year Nicky started working on her PhD.

Come and Sing Bloch's Sacred Service

Bloch’s Sacred Service is unique amongst Jewish liturgical repertory in being a full setting of the Sabbath morning prayers. Unfolding over five parts, the work is set for baritone soloist (representing the cantor), choir and orchestra who, in various combinations, blend high art with Jewish sacred sounds…

This March, the Zemel Choir invite you to learn, and perform, this beautiful work… from scratch! From Hebrew pronunciation to liturgical significance, Zemel’s esteemed Musical Director, Benjamin Wolf, will guide you through the piece culminating in a final performance.

In preparation, you are welcome to join Zemel at their weekly rehearsals at 8pm on 4 & 11 March,
120 Oakleigh Rd N, London N20 9EZ.

The rehearsal on the 17th March is taking place in the Peter Samuel Hall, inside the Royal Free Hospital. Then the final concert is taking place nearby at Belsize Square Synagogue. Please click on the flyer to REGISTER for the Come and Sing Event
